Ok I am by no means an expert on this. Our systems Admin setup the IIS SMTP service for me. Here is a link that might help out some of you..

Watch the wrap around. Since it doesn't take you to the exact pages, on the left click on:

Internet tools and services.

This will expand. Click on Microsoft SMTP service.

These are the docs on how to setup the IIS SMTP Service on 2000 Server.

He did have to setup a remote domain to get it working.

The remote domain is our knox.edu domain. Under properties, he has the Allow incoming mail to be relayed to this domain option checked. Also Use DNS to route to this domain. That is it for the properties on that tab.

Hope this help some of you. I am basically just looking at the properties for our setup. There might be some permissions you need to set, I am not sure.

Thanks

Hi

If you want to configure eTrust Alert to send SMTP emails. Try this..
# Open Alert Manager
# Goto SMTP and right click..
# specify the SMTP server(IIS) and sender email id.
# Create a new 'To' and try 'Test'.

Hope this helps
