Hi,
We have 2 exchange 5.5 servers, and one smtp gateway with GFI mailessential 14 installed on it, all servers are behind an asa 5540 firewall.
Inbound emails go to the gateway first to get filtered and routed to the exchange servers, while outbound emails get out straight from exchange to the firewall.
When I try to have outbound emails go through the gateway instead, I get the error message below when I try to send a test message out;
Reporting-MTA: dns;ANTISPAM.mydomainname.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;exchgservername.mydomainname.com
Arrival-Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2009 23:46:08 -0500
Final-Recipient: rfc822;sender email@hotmail.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 Relaying is prohibited
The attached excel file has screenshots of what I did to configure that.
FYI,
- gateway have windows 2003 sp2.
- Exchange has windows 2000 sp4
