I am the new administrator for sms server, and I do not have a test lab. So any helpful suggestion will be appreciated.
We will be pushing out packages that puts a key in the registry. I need to query resource explorer to see if the package has been delieverd so I need to collect the registry key. Can I edit and add a new property to the already exiting key in sms_def.mof file and if so how do I do this. Or can I complile the regevent.mof that is found in winnt\system\wbem and if so how do I do this.

Thanks
Smittie

Check out this page. There's a bunch of ready-made MOF files, as well as information on how to implement them.

Also, if you are distributing the package as an MSI (Windows Installer) Package, then you can Inventory the MSI packages on your clients with a simple MOF extension.

This method would not use the registry provider, so if you have problems with adding registry entries to your MOF, try this...
