Yes...I have just completed a project to convert from Intel Landesk to SMS 2.0. (2500 node environment)
I'm not familiar with any new versions of LANDESK. The convertion was needed because many duplicate system records corrupted the LANDESK database (based on SQL 6.5). It seemed also that security was lacking in LANDESK.
SMS 2.0 using SQL 7.0 has auto maintenance build-in to control duplicate records. In addition, SMS is very easy to rollout. (It is important that the LANDESK client is removed before installing the SMS 2.0 client.)
SMS 2.0 remote control is excellent. Security is based on NT user accounts. In addition, site rules can help control security a basic levels. For example, you can set a policy stating that an ASK FOR PERMISSION dialog box appears when a remote adminitrator attempt to remote control your machine.
I am very happy with SMS 2.0 in our environment. I was able to uninstall LANDESK and install the SMS client through logon scripts. Out of 3000 user workstations (95,98,NT), I only made 20 desktop visits.
LANDESK had also given us problems when attempting to establish remote control sessions. Sometimes it would be necessary to stop and restart the LANDESK client service in order to get a connection response. Sometime even that did not work and a reboot of the server was required before a remote control session was possible.
One thing I don't like about SMS is that MAC workstations are not supported as client machines.
Another big plus is that Microsoft will provide excellent support for SMS. In addition, website like tek-tips.com and swynk.com offer tons of information on SMS.
