Up till about a week ago I have been useing SMS reporting without a hitch. Then the other day I go view some reports and on the main reporting screen the left hand side says loading then disappers. But no reports appear for me to choose from. IE looks like its trying to load something but nothing gets finished.

Any clue why this might be happening?

Thanks,
Anthony

Update,

When I restart the IIS Webserver running the SMS Reporting service it work for like the viewing of two reports. Then I get prompted for the password. I heard it might be a IE setting so I added the server to Trusted Sites. Still no go.

Sometimes I get in and sometimes it just doesn't load. Could there be a problem with the DB?

Thanks,

Well, I'll update you again just in case someone reads this with an answer.

I narrowed down the problem. When I first logon to the SMS server remotely and attempt to run a report I am now prompted for a password. I then restart the IIS service and attempt to run a report. Except this time it runs fine.

Is IIS to cause now?

Any ideas would be great,

Anthony

OK, two things.

The first thing is the Java version on your machine, has this changed recently?

The second thing is if you look at the permissions on SMS_Reporting in IIS is Servername\Users in there with "Read" access? If it is then try removing it...

Call me a bit hasty but I came in over the weekend and just reinstalled the whole site and everything works fine. It is now in my opinion that Windows MOM 2005 is the most frustrationg Microsoft product available. Then need better documentation on that piece of software.

As for SMS 2003, this is the third time reinstalling it and my second year using it and I love it. I just wish they improved the UI.

While I'm on this subject MS ISA Server 2004 is the best piece of complex functionality software Microsoft makes to date.
