Hi Guys,

Network Admin shouting at me this morning that one of my SMS boxes was bringing down the network. Said that one of my sms boxes was chating to 5 or 6 different remote sites with a huge amount of traffic crossing tht link. I'm trying to figure out where it's coming from. When I disabled the SMS services the traffic stopped. What I want to know, is there a way of telling where in SMS the traffic is coming from or what packages are currently being deployed.

Thanks a mill.

KP.

depends on what kind of sites they are. Is it the Central site talking to primaries, primaries talking to other primaries, or secondaries? Primaries talking to clients?

The logs should say what was actively running at the time.

It's a seconday server talking to clients from what I can figure out. Where in the logs should I be looking?

Now that I have more information:

The server is a secondary site server but the clients that it is talking to are not within the bouadaries specified in the properties. Why would clients be pulling packages from that server when they are not within it's boundaries?
The client PC's in question have their own secondary site.

Any info would be apprecicated.

KP

If you haven't enabled the protected DP setting any client can and will download packages from that server.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,
GSC
