is there some type of time out when sending text messges?

EG: if i send an SMS to a phone that has no reseption or the recipent phone is turned off, how long will the SMS attempt to send before it gives up or times out?

im thinking this maybe network dependant and different for 3G phones etc.

I was sure [ i wrote about it for a university eassy ] that after 72hours an SMS will time out and never be sent if the recipent phone has no reseption or is turned off in that time.

The time out setings are related to the SMS Center settings.

The SMS center will try to send the sms to the mobile. Many SMS center keeps the messages for a week. But it's variable.
