The SMS snap-in for the MMC is not available on all clients. How do I make it show up?

SMS Management Console must be installed in order for it to show up as a snap-in for mmc.
Run the setup for SMS on the client, and choose Console Only.

I will gladly eat my words if anyone can find another way of administering from a workstation.
Good Luck!

Look at Web Administrator For SMS by Computing Edge; browser based tool you can use from any workstation on your intranet without loading anything.

This is my setup:

I have a workstation at my desk and on the network. When I loaded Windows 2000 Advanced Server I chose to install Terminal Server in Administrative Mode on it. Then I loaded the SMS Admin Console on this machine. I opened the SMS.MSC file in author mode and pointed the Admin Console to my SMS Servers and saved it.

Now...wherever I am on the network and on whatever computer I'm on (Winpx, WinNT, Win2000), I can terminal server to the machine on my desk and administer SMS. I have never had a failure to this functionality! I have even "Opened a Terminal", shared it out with Netmeeting, then used the admin console to perform Remote Tools on a SMS 2 client!!!! Thus demonstrating that all three of Microsoft's remote technologies are somewhat agreeable!

This even allows me to administer the SMS environment from home over my cable modem (dial up works very well also!).
