I am going to redo our entire SMS infrastructure that consist of one primary central site and 5 secondary sights and over 3000 computers.
The database info is not too important. The only thing that is important is that I use the same site codes.

Do I need to do an SMS recovery or can I just do a reload? What steps should I be aware of when shutting down the SMS sites?

I plan to stop discovery. Push out a package to uninstall the client agent. Uninstall the secondary sites. Then finally turn off the primary site and reload. Am I missing anything? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

the only thing i think is missing is to remove your subnets from the site after your package deploys and DOUBLE check phiscally that your clients have actually uninstalled. Had major problems when I didn't check and then had some clients that would not update on a reload of sms.

What I would do is if it is only the primary site that needs rebuilding, permform an SQL restore and reinstall SMS from there and point it to the restored database. Please e-let me know if you need help. (I've rebuilt and restored several SMS sites).
