SMS error Bad Message on Novell 5.1

Hi,

I am having a problem with my backup exec program using novell 5.1. I have recently installed a new tape drive and when I am performing a backup it appears that the data is backing up properly but at the end I am getting a sms error bad message. Can someone please explain this message to me and how I can resolve it?

I am having the same issue on a NW6 server with Vertias. Any ideas?

Is the data any good? Have you tried to restore a directory or two? What I think is that Novell has an error to show which the program can't read, it might be just a file open issue or about anything. You may never find out. Check the tape and make sure you can access the data. Which is a good idea anyways. You would not believe the percentage of people who never test their restore procedures and find out they cannot get it back. What's that statistic? 50% or 66% of all companies who have a data disaster never open again?
