How can we do SMS distribution accross domains(forests)
I have 2 different forest
ForestA and forestB(Dont have any trust relationship for now)
ForestA has SMS servers
I want to push software through SMS to ForestB.

1. i need to have trust relationship? what else is needed

Appreciate your help

Yes, don't need trust. Just a network access account configured in SMS

1) You need to setup a Client installation Account(s) in your SMS Site Server. This account must have administrative rights on all clients. (Multiple account can be specified) Or if you know of a local administrator username with admin rights is %machinename%\accountname format.

2) You need to setup an Advanced client network access account so the clients can pull the SMS client installation from \\siteserver\smsclient folder.

3) You may need WINS to help the clients find the MP and SLP in the REMOTE non-trusted domains. You can manually setup a WIN static record for this.

4) you must use IP subnets for your site boundaries for the remote domains.

SMS clients can exist in workgroups or non-trusted domains...

Joseph - Thank you very much for the reply- is there any documentation on the above subject, where i can go through thedocumentation to get some understanding. i did a search on the internet but didnt find much about this.

I'm sure this is documented from Microsoft. I would check the Microsoft documentation on the internet:

I'm sure there is some stuff in the Planning Guide..

Also, here is an example talking about how to configure the SMs Push accounts:

Because a single account might not work for all computers (for example, because the computers might be in multiple domains), you can specify multiple accounts. Each account is tried in the order specified until one succeeds. If the SMS site is in standard security mode, Client Push Installation tries the SMS Service account after the other accounts have been tried. In advanced security mode, only the accounts listed on the tab are tried. Alternatively, you can specify %MachineName%\AccountName on the Accounts tab. This substitutes the name of the computer the client is deployed to on for %MachineName% so that installation can proceed using a local administrator account on the computer.

... oh here is another post from Microsoft that says SMS can be used to manage multiple domains:

Domain Structure
Your existing domain model might dictate the use of certain discovery methods, or you might choose to organize or reorganize your domain model to more closely map to your SMS architecture (although single sites can handle multiple domains).
