I have a problem with some machines that have the client installed but are not reporting that fact within the SMS console.

The site has discovered over a 1000 machines but is only showing 800 of them with the client installed. However when I look on the boxes that report as not having the client installed "it is".

I have checked the logs on the client to make sure it has seen the management point and that it can discover the site code (all Ok).

I can also connect to these clients through remote control.

Any ideas would be appreciated

In order for the "Client Installed" to be reported in the SMs Administrators console, the SMS client has to push its data to the site server. If the client is having communication problems with the site server, you will never see client installed in the sms admin console. Furthermore, it is possible that the client has the SMS client loaded but has not recieved its policy. Without the SMS policy, it will not "talk" to the server. If it doesn't "talk" to the MP/site server, you will not see the client properly in the SMs admin console.

I would check to make sure that the client is installed and WORKING on the 200 systems not showing up properly in the SMS admin console....especially make sure that they have recieved thier policies from SMS. (Discovering the Site Code is NOT enough, you need to make sure it has the SMS policies...for example, check to make sure Remote Control is configured in the right way...)
