Hello Everyone,

I have troubles with pushing advanced client agent in SMS 2003. I can now push the client agent to a desktop. The SMS Agent Host Service is running on the desktop pc. In the control pannel on the client there are several extra icons available. So I think the client agent is correctly istalled on the client side.

The only problem I still have is that the client doesn't show up as an installed client in the SMS Administrator Console.

Can anyone help me with this problem.

Thanks very much....

greetings

Joris

How long has it been since they were pushed? Have you updated the collection and refreshed it?

Are you seeing anything in the client logs? such as in the locationservices.log or the clientlocation.log?

The clients were pushed 30 minutes ago. I've updated and refreshed the collection after that.

I checked the clientlocation.log like you suggested and there is indeed a error finding the wins server. Does SMS2003 still need a Wins Server?

I also checked the clientlocation.log, this seems to be OK.

Yeah if you dont extend the AD schema it will need a wins entry.

I did extend the AD scheme during the setup of SMS2003. When I ran extadsch.exe again, the log said that all the atributed and classes where already existing.

It looks like it failed to see the slp or the MP from AD,

CHeck out the ad system | system management container and see if the MP was "registered" in the container, if not make sure you gave the computer/s (meaning the SMS site servers, or a group that includes all the sms sites) rights to the container so they could write the info to AD

Thanks tbrennans.

I did not make the server a member of the Builtin Administrators group. When I did this the changes in the system management container appeared quickly and everything started to work.

Thanks very much....
