Alright, I for the life of me cant figure this one out. I researched high and low, configured until I cant configure anymore and havent made any progress.

I am running Exchange 2003 standard with SMS 4.6

I have recieved reports of external clients/customers getting delivery errors with "SPAM Site" in the body or error message.

Can someone give me some clues as to what might be causing this? I believe its SMS as I have connection filtering turned off no the Exchange side.

Are you using a Realtime Black list?

If so, which one is listed? (i.e. relays.ordb.org)

I am using RBL in SMS 4.6...

Here is what I have listed;

sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
bl.spamcop.net
dnsbl.sorbs.net
blackholes.five-ten-sg.com
relays.ordb.org

Suggestions???

Do not use the dnsbl.sorbs.net, this is an aggregate zone that contains all the other zones.

Change this to the 'open relay' zone smtp.dnsbl.sorbs.net

I would only use maybe two or three RBL, as each email will check with all the ones listed before it lets it through.

I only use relays.ordb.org, and that works a treat.

ok, great.

where do you find info on RBL and which ones you should use, etc?

so you only use a single RBL entry in SMS4.6?

Not sure where to find a list and which one is best.

You can use as many as you like, but my advise is to use a couple you seem happy with.

Each email that is recieved will be checked with each entry you supply until it finds one listed and is rejected with the 'spam site' message.

Some RBL's use a list of servers that have been known to send out spam (by using traps) but some of these maybe ISP servers, so you end up rejected messages you may not want to.
