SMS 2003 & WinXP SP2 Firewall exceptions

Hi,
Wondering if those of you who have SMS Clients installed on XPSP2 have had to make the required firewall exceptions whether or not windows firewall is enabled, as in our environment we have found that the firewall exceptions must be in place for remote tool connectivity if the firewall is on or off. Is there a KB article that acknowledges this?
