My company might be deploying SMS 2003 in the near future and after going over the documentation I have a question regarding one scenario I might want to take.

We have two domains, one Windows 2000 AD that services only Windows 2000 clients and one Windows NT 4 that services 98 clients. There is a two-way trust between the domains. I want to deploy an SMS 2003 server in the 2000 domain and want to place all site systems in that domain. I want to use Advanced Security and get away from the nightmare that was SMS 2.0 security. Anyway, my question is this, will I be able to deploy the Legacy client and distribute software to computers in the NT 4 domain but have all site systems (CAPs, SLPs, Distribution Points) in the 2000 domain? I'm hoping with the trust in place, I can do this. I don't want to put many hooks into the NT 4 domain as we hope to get rid of it by the end of the year.

Yes, you can install SMS 2003 in the 2000 domain and be able to manage both domains or use it to its full capability. You will have to setup the site boundaries correctly and the accounts. Hope this helps.
