We recently installed SMS 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. We are a small company of only 400 users and as such, I placed all of the site system roles on the site server. However, I have been researching an error for days to no avail with regard to the Management Point role.
Here is the error from the Site Status\Component Status log:
"MP Control Manager has detected that MPSetup has failed to create the CCM_Incoming Virtual Directory"
I tried all of the hints that the log suggests with no success. Microsoft TechNet was of little help.
This seems to relate to IIS which is installed. DTC is also installed and enabled. BITS is enabled.
The only thing that I appear to be missing is the SMS Host Agent service on the server. I see that on the clients, though. Should this service be on the server?
Any ideas? SMS has been problematic since I started working with it...
