I'm pretty new to SMS 2003 . . . my boss just asked me to look at it today. Anyway, I'm trying to install it on a Windows 2003 domain controller. During the installation, I'm choosing the Advanced Security and Extend the Schema options. As soon as the install starts, it comes up with a Fatal Error. Here are the error lines from the setup log.

<12-03-2003 11:46:30> Setup cannot add local group SMS_SiteSystemToSiteServerConnection_TST, Win32 error = 8208
<12-03-2003 11:46:30> Setup cannot create or query local group SMS_SiteSystemToSiteServerConnection_TST on this computer. Contact your network administrator.

I'm running the install under an account with Domain Admin and Schema Admin access. Can you not install SMS 2003 on a Win2003 DC? If you can, any ideas as to why this error is coming up?

Win32 error = 8208:
The directory service was unable to allocate a relative identifier.
ERROR_DS_NO_RIDS_ALLOCATED

Does this somehow help you ?

But to answer your question:
You can install SMS 2003 on a DC - whether it is Win2000 or Win2003...
Have you already tried to not extend the AD schema while installing and doing this afterwards ?
