SMS 2.0 sp2 and SMS 2.0 sp4

Currently I'm administering 2 domains with a SMS server in each one of them. Domain A had SMS 2.0 sp4 and Domain B had SMS 2.0 sp2. I set the SMS server in Domain A be the Parent Site and the SMS server in Domain B as the child site. Unfortunately both servers seems could recognize one another. Note that both domains had 2 way trust relationship. My question is, does it necessary that I had to upgrade the server in Domain B to sp4 too for this to work?

As far as I know, yes you do. If the sites are going to share caps especially.
When we did our SP3 upgrade where I work, we had a staged upgrade that needed to go off in one night all at once, nationwide.
Reason being that the sp4 or sp2 client will be confused when hitting the different CAPS (sp2 vs. sp4).
