sms 1.2 - installation

Unable to install. When installing unable to connect to sql. Installation hangs up at that point. Does anyone have any good tips on where to start troubleshooting? Articles, books

Are your SMS and SQL on the same server. If not, check the network connection between the two servers.<br>

yes the sms and sql are on the same server.<br>
