Smooth rounded corners

shovesp - I use the vector rounded rectangle tool then rasterize the layer - you adjust the amount of the curve by changing the radius in the top menu bar.
As an alternative - ImageReady's marquee tool includes a rounded corner rectangle. You can create it in ImageReady and then switch back to Photoshop.

You can also try the custom shape tool. There are more rounded rectangles in there.

Also, (and this works for rounded corner on triangles and starts),
1: use the custom shape tool (in black)
2: rasterize the layer
3: select visible
4: filter/gaussian blur
5: image/adjustment/levels and move the gray tab right and the white tab left 'til you're happy
6: Et voila!
