I have created a process with an Active X progress bar showing the user that the process is running. It all works fine, but I am bored with it and would like a smooth progress bar rather than the standard.

Is there any way, without writing in VB .NET, to change the little blue rectangles to a smooth continuous large blue rectangle?

Your help would make me a very happy man.

Cheers

I have had a look in the custom, and there is no scolling section. I have looked in all the drop down boxes and there is no '1 - ccScrollingSmooth'. I forgot to add that I am working in Excel 2000. Does th9is make a difference?

I wouldn't have thought that it would have made a difference but having just tested it myself it does. I tried using the Microsoft ProgressBar Control, version 5.0 (the earliest version I can get to from Excel 2003) and it doesn't have the Scrolling option (as you mentioned). It would appear that the aforementioned option is only available in version 6.0.
I'll be honest, I'm not sure how (if there is a way) you would change the scroll style using this control.

Ok, not to worry, I'll have to lump it, although it looks rubbish.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Now i can't answer your question but i can point you in the direction of some files that might interest you.

There are lots of files here but the two that will interest you are below. They are both compatible with 2000.

The first - Control the LED Display in the StatusBar - gives you control over the built in status bar in the bottom left corner of excel. This has examples with it and has a lot of code. It goes far beyond my understanding, but possibly not yours.

The second - Progress Indicator - does what it says. This is a form that shows your progress as a smooth bar that pops up like any other excel form. This is a lot simpler than the first one and even i understand it and have used it. The beauty of this one is that once you understand how it works with a little tweaking you can change it to be any shape that just gets larger/smaller/changes in some way. (you'll see what i mean when you look at the code)

Hope these and any others on the page help

Matt
