I have a city-scape panarama photo but I want to reduce the affect of the smog and enhance some of the distant items ... I have tried all the 'smart' and 'one step' filters, with limited success.
What you're calling smog used to be referred to as haze, if I'm not mistaken. And I don't know of any way at all to remove it other than a pixel-by-pixel editing. Do you have any plans for the next couple of years? It would probably take me that long.
I have the same problem with real long (around 1000mm) tele shots on the salt flats. But only when the air heats up. If I take my long shots in the morning, they're pretty clear. But once the air near the surface of the salt heats up it distorts things terribly. It's the mirage effect. There's a mountain out in the middle of the flats known as "Floating Mountain" because when it gets hot, the mountain seems to rise up off the salt surface and float on thin air.
I sure wish there was a post-processing filter to deal with things like that, but so far, I haven't found any...and not just in PSP.
