Smeared pages

My Color Laserjet has begun printing pages that look very smeary - almost like it was printing with ink and the ink was runny or the paper was wet. The entire page is not smeary, but quite a bit of it is.
 
Can you identify any repetitive pattern in the defects ?
And if so, can you meassure the distance from first occurence till the next then we can easily find the cause [wink]
 
No pattern. It affects at least three quarters of the page and I get different results if I reprint the same page.
 
Most likely it is the carousel that has jumped it's timing marks. When the toners are out of alignment, it will give this defect. If you are not completely tech savvy, take it in to be repaired. May be better to put the money towards a new inline printer.
