Help please. I am interested in hooking up a pc using TAPIT software for our smdr. The software says I need to run a 9 pin sr232 serial cable from the computer to the phone system. The phone system requires a phone jack plug. Is there an adapter/converter I should be using to plug into the phone system? Or, should I be using a differnt cable?

Also, is the less expensive smdr software available but just as good as TAPIT?

Thanks for the help!

ATT/Lucent/Avaya 355-A or 355-AF adapter will take you from the 8-pin port on the Partner to a DB-25 serial connector. Then you will need a step-down adapter to get to a 9-pin serial connector.

If you look through the archives, you will find a couple of pin outs to make your own adapter.

I've used Tapit extensively. It's overkill in some scenarios. There is a cheaper alternative at sandman.com
