I want to convert the serial SMDR port to TCPIP an put it on the network. That way when they move the call accounting around, I don't need to run a cable every time. Is there a device that will do this? Do I need one at both ends or can the conputer with the Accounting software pick it up from the network and not it's com port?

Why not set up VNC for your Call Accounting PC and then give access to whoever needs it? There is also Web Browser based software (Metropolis Office Watch) that will let your people access the call accounting via web.

I don't understand how that helps Serial SMDR get to the call accounting computer?

You would have to leave your call accounting PC within 50 ft of the 2000 and on rs-232 serial interface.

The call accounting computer is in an office and will change to another office. I am looking for a serial to ethernet converter so I don't have to pull a cable every time they change computers (offices)
