Currently I am using a Magix 3.0 with calling groups (queues). The type of group that I need to use requires employees to log into the call group when they are at their desk. I am having a problem with some not logging their phones in.

I hooked up the SMDR to capture data to a file. This is working fine. But I was hoping I could track the amount of time the employee logged into the call group during a day. It would seem that the only data I am getting is incoming and outgoing calls. Is there a way I can track calling group login time on an extension basis?s

Eric the SMDR output is very basic, but the information yu want is there, just not tabulated. You either need to get call accounting software or dump the information into a file, and then let Excel do the work for you. This should tell you which calling group was used, and the extension involved, but the Magix won't do any "thinking" for you here, it's just data output.

as Pepp said, you will get call information from the SMDR, but it will not tell you when an extension logged in and for how long.

The software that we use to monitor calls is the Call Accounting Software for Windows. It shows the duration, Talk-time, Dialed number, etc.. Just go to and look for CAS for Windows. Hope this helps!

Several of you have mentioned getting data from the SMDR port. How do i get the data from the switch through the smdr port into a format excel can import? Thanks in advance.

Hook up a hyperterminal session on a PC that is connected to the SMDR port. You can then tell just how the data is parsed.

Pepperz, thanks for the quick response, is the data being sent to the smdr port constantly or do i need to issue a command to get the data to arrive there?

It's there. You can minipulate it somewhat under the options menu, but there is nothing you need to do to get it there. 100-n-8-1

Pepperz,
Thanks for the info as you can tell I know very little about phone switch programming, I am software engineer not switch programmer, you have been a great thanks much.

I miss-pressed, that's 1200-N-8-1 for the Hyperterminal.
