I have a SMC7004FW at two locations and have set up an IP/Sec tunnel router to router. I can browse both subnets and have shared drives mapped so applications that share centralized data can access files in the main office from a remote office. The problem is once the IKE key expires, running the application or clicking on the shared drive in Windows Explorer on the Win 98SE machines in the remote office does not restore the tunnel, you get the error that the "network path could not be found". No number of attempts will cause it to rebuild the tunnel. However, if you ping a host on the other subnet, the tunnel is restored immediately and the share is once again available on the network. But I can't have my users having to ping a remote host every hour to restore the tunnel. Also if you browse for computers on the other subnet by name the computer is found. But if you browse by IP address it comes back "0 computers found". If anyone knows what I am doing wrong and could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.
