SMC2682W disconnecting 1

We have two SMC2682W EZ Connect in two different buildings, having problems with all the laptops disconnecting from the wireless network.

Randomly (sometimes every 5/10 mins) a message will popup saying the wireless network has been found, and you have to click connect.

The two SMC AP are using WEP with the same 128bit key. Clients arr all Sony Vaios with XP pro.

Any ideas?

See if in the client adapter's property sheet there is an option to enable/disable 802.1x authentication. Set it to disabled.

Look in Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, to see if Hotfix #815485 was installed by Windows Update service. If so, remove it.

Be certain that the wireless router/AP is broadcasting its SSID.
