smbpasswd help needed

I am using Solaris 9 and trying to setup samba. When trying to join the domain with the following: smbpasswd -j <domain> -r <domain controller> -U<administrator>%<password> I am getting the following: Error connecting to <domain controller> - NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Unable to join domain <domain>.
I have added the computer to the domain according to other instructions. Our domain controller is 2003 server.
Any help appreciated...

You might try putting the anonymous logon in the pre-windows 2000 compatibility group.
