Hi all,

I don't know if this is in the correct area but here goes any way, we run a server 2003 network and one of our suppliers has recently installed a Ricoh MFD (MP C2500)which we use mainly for printing and scanning, the main reason we got this was for the scan side, we have a lot of documents come in that need scanning and then emailing, when it works it is a great bit of kit, however at least a couple of times a day the thing just stops scanning and comes up with "communication error" when it tries to send the scan job, the suppliers have updated all firmware etc to no avail and the manufacturer is adamant that the problem is not with the machine, any idea on how i can track this problem down, the logs on the box just say "error" no codes or any thing. I should say that the machine scans using smb to a share on the server, the user account that this uses has full control over the share and full control in security. HELP.

Check the network speed on the printer and the switch, also swap network cables.

Hi, thats has been done, the nic is fixed to 100 meg and i have tried it at all different speeds, tha cable has also been changed.

I can't think of anything other than that.

To be honest, when I first saw your post I already thought it was the printer that was at fault.

You are stuck between a rock and a hard place, at least try to convince the manufacturer to replace the NIC on the copier if they won't replace the entire machine.
