Hello, I have a server control with postback that causes the background disappear (background color turned back to white and some text on the page misalign like off center) with the use of SmartNavigation = "true" in the page directive. why does this happen? Thanks for any help with this issue in advance.

It happens because SmartNavigation is a tempting, but horribly buggy feature Microsoft hasn't perfected yet. It's nothing you did.
