SmartList woes

I'm having big problems with my SmartList program, both on-Palm and Desktop.

For example, I have a List field in my Palm that show text. When I HotSync, it shows a number. This wouldn't be such a problem if the number was the primary key, but it isn't, it's some other number.

Also, I'm having difficulty linking DB Join fields with Access. Is there a way around this?

To be honest, I'm finding SmartList to be a piss-poor DBMS. Has anyone else had these (or similar SmartList) problems?
