SmartArray 6400 Controller Logical Drive limit

I have several SmartArray 6402 cards with MSA20 shelves. I realise that the SmartArray card has a 2TB limit for logical drives. I'm trying to clarify if this is a parallel SCSI limit, or just a limit with this particular array controller model.

I'm looking at the option of using a third-party array contoller (e.g adatpec), but I can't find any information on logical drive/raid set limits.

A 2TB limit is not good with 1TB drives!
