That GF2 should trounce your old TNT card - especially with respect to fps.

Using the latest drivers for your hardware is common sense - I would get drivers for everything in your system at your earliest convenience!

A clean rebuild can be like a breath of fresh air to a system that has been overworked for a couple of years. However, it's a fair bit of hassle if you don't HAVE to do it. A defrag will definitely help - and clean out all those *.tmp files, contents of TEMP directories and such like first.

If there are any icons in your system tray (the bottom left corner, opposite the Start Menu), get rid of as many as you can - in a way that also stops the program running. If you find later that you actually need them, you can always re-install them. These critters eat up system resources unnecessarily, IMO.

Finally, getting rid of all that software you never use will help make your system leaner and cleaner.

Since defragging optimises file space on the disk, remember to always defrag after you've removed files - not before, or you'll just start the fragmentation earlier.

What's the spec of the rest of your PC? (Makes and models will help). Maybe we can give some more tips based on that.

Hope this is helpful CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
