Smart Punctuation Error -->HELP!!

Hi, I'm working in Illustrator 10 and am having a new problem I've never encountered. I have several bodies of text on my document. When I try to use smart punction on the entire document I get this Error Message:

" Smart Punctuation filter could not complete the replace command"

If I try to select only one text object and use smart punction on that selected text I get a message saying that the selection is not text. I haven't changed anything into outlines and when I select the text my appearance palette says "type" so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I haven't found this problem anywhere else on the web.

Any suggestions??

I'm not sure if this will work but do you have the text highlighted with the type tool, or the text object selected with the arrow tool? "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Einstein

Thanks! Before I just had the text box selected, but once I highlighted the actual type it worked. I've never had to do that before-- is that just some bug or what? Strange...but thanks a lot for the quick response!

I havnt used 10 that long but 9 only required that for change case functions. Probably just some 10 thing like having to alt-click on the pathfinder now =) "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Einstein
