Smart Batteries show fault

As per a previous thread, I am experimenting with a wind generator to charge the batteries on an older APC ups. All of a sudden the two smart batteries have faults and doen't last any time.

Is this typical of a bad battery in the group??

I have measured voltage and still get close to my 48V cell voltage, so I don't think it is a dead cell.

thoughts?? comments??
