Small Workgroup Backup Solution

I have just recently setup a small, 3 computer workgroup, and would like to find a device and software solution to backup data on all three of the machines. Total data across the three computers is around 10 - 20G.

I currently have a HP Colorado backup device, but with the problem of finding tapes and how slow the device backups data, I want to upgrade to something faster and more reliable.

I was looking at possibly an HP DVD burner, but I am not sure how this device would fit into my environment and how it will work with different backup software, CA or Veritas.

My other option is to purchase an HP surestore DLT vs80e.

I am not sure if either of these device are going to be "over kill" and there is another means of backup for my three computers. If anyone has suggestions or solutions, I would greatly appreciate the feedback.

It would be interesting to know your platforms/OS in you workgroup. The HP-DVD burner sounds sexy. But I think a tape drive would be a better solution. Todays tapes can hold a hundred gigs or more of data. And you can reuse tapes over and over for quite a long time. Some tape drives are faster than harddrives. Veritas Backup Exec is more geared towards tape drives, but I believe it will do DVD. Do some research on that before you buy.

I recently saw a review of using DVD drives instead of tape drives. Aside from the limited storage size of a DVD, they were twice as slow as the tape drive. I might suggest a 12/24gig DLT drive.. That's what I've been using, and it works very well for my configuration (about 20 gigs of info).
