I have a need to add an entry to the firewall on the SOE. I've run the trace as per the documentation but I don't clearly understand what I'm looking for. The trace tells me the ports to allow but I'm not clear on what to enter for the data to filter. Does any one know of anything to help read / understand this data?

firewalls aprofiles are a dark area bu roughly speeking you need to know the offset into the IP header for the ports you want to open or block
(tx form IPO = offset 20 rx to IPO = offset 22 i think)

so to allow inboud trafix to a specific port set the protocoll to 6 (tcp) match offset to 22 & match length to 2

match data is the port id in hexadecimal & the mask is a logital mask that is anded with the data.

I hope this helps

Perhaps Avaya will see the need to better document the firewall information in the future.

Search on Linux Firewall configuration manuals, this could enlighten yor quest.
