We have an issue where on incoming SIP calls it hits the AA and uses up 2VCM channels until the call is answered and then one is dropped.

The codec on the line is the same at voiceflex and on system, the phones are digital so i have no idea why it uses up 2VCM...

IT only does this on calls that hit the AA.
When dialing out only one is used. As it only has 3 VCMS on this small office when a call out is made and one is in the AA there is no VCM's left but if i put another call into the switch the call gets ringback until VCM's are free and then it plays the AA, its like its queuing some how to the AA

any help would be great

Is this embedded voicemail?
Embedded Voicemail uses a VCM for access on a small office and I doubt that the SOE is smart enough to optimise...

I suspect that you will have to live with this...

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

If you are using "normal transfer" in your AA, then change to "blind transfer". Because "normal transfer" is actually a supervised transfer and the channel is not released until answer and can cause 2 VCM channels busy.

just to post an update, if i dial any code to access the voicemail from a digital phone its using the SIP it uses 1 x VM and 1 x VCM channel on the system i can view this in SSA, Does the system require a VCM for a Digi phone to access Voicemail on a Small Office?

If so is there anyway around this so that we are not using 2 x VCM on every incoming SIP Call bearing in mind out SIP trunk and line are set to the Same Codec of G711 but the voicemail Codec is G723. Voiceflex do not support G723 codec for Voice.

Best tip is to buy a newer and therefor supported system, the SOE's are rather long in the tooth now and will start to fall over :)
