Does anyone have any experience with setting up a small fiber network for a customer. This would be used for their data i.e. PC work stations, document centers, scanners etc. instead of using lets say CAT-6 or 6a or even the new Cat-7a.

I just finished a Cat-6a and the cable was so bulky and hard to handle that I thought about going the other direction and reduce the size of the cable while increasing the speeds.

If so what is involved? What are the costs etc.?

Thanks

Fiber is not a viable replacement for catX cable - simply because the electronics are not cost-effective. You would need media adapters at each device as well as fiber switches. Of course, fiber remains the transport of choice for long distances or in 'hostile' environments - like welding shops.
