Is there a way to have an SCN but without the IP trunk?
I've got 2 sites with SCN, but the vpn between the sites is not qualified for VoIP. Though, we'd like to keep the data part for BLF, directory integration, hot desking, ...
We'd prefer to route the voice part over an ISDN connection.

I tried fiddling with the channels for the H323 Line, but that didn't work. Is this feasable in another way?

No, once the systems share extn numbers and names etc it's classed as an internal call and so it will always match the extn before any shortcodes andbecause of this will always route via the SCN trunk, plus that's the only way it's designed to work, you need to focus on improving the link in some way :)

There were some versions where you could add a User-Short Code eg. 1XX/Barred and it also worked for internal calls, but unfortunately this has changed a couple of versions ago.

I was hoping for a similar backdoor. :)

Yes you can do this.
But you need to set the amount of channels on 1
Then you need to route the calls with shortcodes.

So if you use 2XX on site A and 3XX on site B then do this:

Make a shortcode on both sites like this:

#2XX and #3XX
Dial
Line id ISDN trunk.

You cannot use internal dialing but you can see BLF.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I think I got busy tone when trying this earlier today.
I'll check it again when I'm back at the office tomorrow.

You need to use the complete number as Telephone number except for the last digits offcourse.

So:

#2XX
Dial
001012345N
Line id ISDN

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Oh, you added an # as prefix.

But you won't be able to dial from the internal directory, I guess?

No, you cannot do that.
That is the downside.
You will have the SCN features but no dialing across SCN.

I'm going to check with the data dudes to see what's possible there.

At times like these I'd want the IP Office to have an "advanced mode" rather then a "quick mode". We're all trained technicians aren't we? :)

Voicemail will be your issue with this...

I had a similar setup and I had it nearly working - aprt form voicemail.

In the end it wasn't stable enough for production.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

With R8 you need to pay to get off "Muppet mode" onto IP Office mode too

You have got to be kidding

Now I am going to have a battle with our sales team to make sure they don't sell Muppet mode rather than just telling our engineers not to use it.

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

Thinking about this..

If I install using V6 or V7 in standard mode then upgrade to V8 I would avoid the need for the license - correct?

cant see Avaya Making much money on this one.

ah wait I see Amridle01 said with the upgrade license.
does this mean that if you upgrade withing 90 days you are scuppered or have to pay?

I am beginning to loos my faith in the IPO when dis-enhancements like this keep being rolled out.

Yes, if you upgrade within 90 days it will take the firmware but will only run in Quick mode, basically every new system will need the Essential edition licence....easy money/cheap shot :)

It does also mean the "Essential Edition" licence must be cheaper than the upgrade licence, but knowing Avaya that just means they will raise the cost of the upgrade licence.

They are beginning to annoy me to, they don't give you great new features you will happily pay for, they just disable existing features until you pay to get them back.

But as always they give a little something so they can argue it's not all take take take....with R8 mobile twinning becomes free...BUT any user licences require VM Pro (Preferred) as a prerequisite, so if just 1 user wants mobile call control or softphone etc, you have to then buy VM Pro first, hardly good value :)
