Aaargh!
Now that thats off my chest, heres my issue, and I have no idea how to resolve it.
When setting up the server, the domain name was set to xyz.com rather than xyz.local (I know bad form, but the server was not initially configured by me (last time I bring in a outside vendor)). So heres the issue:
internal addresses resolve properly, as well do external addresses. Hosting being provided by Dyndns.org Custom Dns.
Field systems, on cable modems update their current IP address to DYNDNS.org eg. field1.xyz.com.
Now, I cannot internally resolve these queries.
The internal DNS cannot find the host, as its not in its forward lookup zone. I can't add it to the forward lookup zone because its constantly changing, (we have 50+ of these field sites).
I've tried enabling the forwarders on DNS.XYZ.com with and without recursion, no change.
Any ideas? The only true solution I ahve found is to blow away the server, and set the domain name properly so xyz.local, but that just gives me chills....
Please help!
