I have a sm56pci speakerphone modem that had v. 4.10.80.5, dated 11/12/99, and had sm56set.exe worth 56K's.
This modem was constantly unwilling to complete the handshake between modem and server, very frequently disconnecting itself, and otherwise leaving you out in the cold.
I have downloaded this upgrade and it has eliminated almost all of the quirks.
This file, sm56set.exe contains the save v4.10.80.5, but is dated 3/9/01, and had the file work 320K's.
Before upgrading, move out ~~motorola~~ file documents to elsewhere, replace with this self expanding file and its contents.
It has done wonders on my machine.
