OK, here is an actual issue I encounter a few times a year. I have to speak before a crowd for about 20 minutes. Along about 15 minutes into the speaking I say the following:
"For two creative souls, such as yourselves, I am sure you will..."
Every time I get there I balk and then slur over the words. I like the wording, but dislike the slurring*.

Do any of you have this problem when reading this phrase...

*The only other time I slur is when I get ridiculously tired. e.g. after camping for a week at a local festival I have been known to slur everything I say while absolutely sober. Sober but exhausted.

IMHO, the slur-inducing portion of the phrase is "souls, such as yourselves," due to the recurring sibilants. Perhaps it could be tweaked a little, with "souls, like yourselves." Putting the glottal stop of the "like" in there may help to prevent the sibilants "running together" and producing the slur. I realize that you like the wording, but if you have the same problem in the same place every time you give your speech, you may want to consider making a change. :)

"like" vs "such as"

I used to rock and roll every night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find 30 minutes a week in which to get funky. - Homer Simpson

I was going to say "yeah - what evidence is there for souls" but then I remembered what trouble that sort of remark led to on an ex-forum.
