We have 2 Windows 2000 servers with Metaframe XPa in a farm. These servers are running Windows service pack 3 with Office XP SP 2. The problem that we're having is users will experience slowness on their ica session. This seems to be random as far as the time and user that it occurs on. We have linked the problem to winword.exe. If a user is experiencing the slowness, we can look at the task manager and kill winword.exe. Immediately, their session starts responding normally. The users don't always experience problems with Word and it doesn't seem like the users are doing the same task in word win the problem occurs. Any ideas or experience with this? Thanks.

Forgive my vagueness, but I am trying to remember something I heard in a recent class that was a possible answer to that one.

One of the common Word components causes an inordinate amount of processor usage under Citrix, thus slowing down your session. I believe it was either the spelling checker or the grammer checker, but I can't recall for sure. Try disabling these and see if you experience any improvement.

If I remember correctly, Word 97 was the affected version, but I could easily be mistaken.
