Slower RAM... worth it?

Pretty simple on this one.

I've just bought a new PC, and it's got 256MB RAM (266mhz) in it. My old machine (which i'm getting rid of) has a stick of 256MB older RAM (133mhz i think).

Is it worth putting in this RAM? Or would it just slow the machine down?

I think that the RAM from your older PC will be PC133 SDRAM, and your new PC will be DDR266 RAM, and because of the differences I don't think it will work in your new machine. Chances are the older one will be a 168 pin DIMM and the new one is 184 pin DIMM so it wouldn't fit anyway.

Even though he is a programmer talking about hardware issues Mr Barnett is correct, it won't fit or work. Even 266 ddr memory is cheap these days, just buy some!
