Hello,

I am experiencing very slow write speeds with Acceleraid 170.

By slow I mean 5mb/s when a 45mb/s read is possible. Although writes are going to be slower with Raid 5 but not down to 5mb/s under and circumstances.

I am running windows 2000 SP4 with all latest patches.

I am also running the latest Firmware and drivers. The drives are Seagate 10k rpm ones.

Any ideas on speed would be much appreciated.

Regards
Lurb

Picking for straws...

5 meg is not good

Not familiar with the 170 model, the 170 has write back vs write thru cache, pick write back (you needs a battery backup or data could possibly corrupt with write back).

Did you follow the stripe size defaults recommend in the maual.

Have you called LsiLogic support?

On 2cpu.com, under the storage forum, search for posts related to raid, there are users in the area which use the Accelerraid 170
