I have been sending and recieving files with pcplus 2.03
for years. For the past 6yrs on winxp pro machines. The
modem is a us robotics pci on com2. Recently purchased a
Lenovo with winxp pro and installed the same modem and
procomm software. Recieve files just fine at about 8,000
cps but transmit slows down to a crawl at 60 cps. no errors
just slow. No changes in setup, phone line, server just
the pc.
Any suggestions to investigate?

Did you copy the Procomm files from the old machine to the new machine, or did you reinstall the software and then tried to match settings? Does the transfer start off fast then gradually slow down, or is it slow from the start? And which transfer protocol are you using?

Thanks fer the reply

Yes I did just copy the files from old machine because the
install disk is 2.01 and I could not find the upgrade to
2.03.

The transfer is zmodem protocol and it is slow from start
to end with no errors and completes successfully.

I'm wondering if your modem (internal correct?) is conflicting with another serial device on your system. Here are a couple Symantec knowledge base articles with a few things to try. The first that I would do is trying the upload with HyperTerminal if you have it on your machine and it supports Zmodem (not on my desktop like I thought it was).

Yes it is an internal pci modem, and I have looked at the two sites earlier from previous threads on the subject.

I have attempted to rule out causes by installing the same
modem and modem drivers and procomm software on older
Gateway profile 6 system with all the same settings, com
port, interrupt, phone connection etc. Worked immediately!
The only differences apparently is the old system is winxp
pro sp2 the new is winxp pro sp3. I don't see any way to
roll back the new system to sp2 as it was preinstalled not
updated to sp3. I am guessing now that the many changes in
xp sp3 are conflicting in some way with the old procomm software. May be the Lenovo hardware but likely xpsp3.

Have you tried the debug script at the bottom of the first link in my last message? If so, what was the output from that command?

What about trying a transfer with HyperTerminal, assuming it is on your computer?
