We use the GroupWise v4.1 Async gateway v2 to transfer emails from GroupWise postoffice at one site to the other.
I have noticed recently that the transfer of emails can be very slow, due to data only intermittently being transmitted between the modems.
As I type now: a 15Mb file has transferred 23% and has taken 1 hour so far.
If I go and look at the relevant (external) modem, the send and receive lights do not illuminate for some seconds and then they light up for a while and then pause for a period again. The modem only appears to be actually sending data a percentage of the time.
I have just sat and looked at the timings and they are (approx in seconds) :
90 secs sending, 120 secs pausing,
45 secs sending, 120 secs pausing,
20 secs sending, 120 secs pausing,
30 secs sending, ...
In this small sample, the pausing appears to be consistently 2 minutes.(?)
This appears to be most noticable on emails with large attachments (>1Mb) - or possible it's just that the effect is proportionally more pronounced.
Has anyone seen anything similar, or any ideas?
Nick.
